The climate change has a considerable impact on the natural water resources and jeopardizes a stable comprehensive public water supply. The legally examined Artificial Intelligence-based network control system is intended as a climate adaption measure on the side of the water suppliers with the aim of overcoming existing deficits in the supply system and permitting an early and forward-looking regulation. This study highlights the underlying demands of EU data protection and AI law including the corresponding provisions of national constitutional law. It shows that the implementation of the system within the legal framework is entirely possible, but that legislative adaptions de lege ferenda will be still necessary.
