Die britische Tree Preservation Order als Vorbild für das deutsche Baumschutzrecht?

Trees are becoming increasingly important in coping with climate change. They are irreplaceable both as an environmental and health factor. German and UK law offer extensive possibilities of legally protecting trees and also enforcing this protection. Nevertheless, German tree protection law is very fragmented and sometimes proves cumbersome. This article examines and describes the most important elements of German Tree Protection Law and the British Tree Preservation Order. Similarities in terms of content and structure can be identified. The more flexible handling of the Tree Preservation Order leads to the question whether German Tree Protection Law should be supplemented by a comparable legal instrument.
